Virginia Infante obtained her M.Sc. degree in 1998, Ph.D. in 2002 and Aggregation in 2020 in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. Since 1995, she works in the area of Mechanical Behavior of Materials and has been involved in several national and international research projects. Virginia Infante is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IST. She has experience in Mechanical Project, Structural Materials, Fatigue and Fracture of Materials, Improvement Techniques, Welded Joints, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety), Life Cycle Costs. She has published more than 90 articles in international magazines within the scope of Fatigue. She is a member of the editorial board of the international scientific journal “Engineering Failure Analysis”.
