Rui Galhano dos Santos holds the Chemistry Degree (2006) and a Ph.D. (2013) from the University of Lisbon – Faculty of Sciences (Portugal). He has published more than 30 articles in scientifically reputable journals and presented more than 20 oral/invited communications in international scientific recognized symposia around the world, as well as more than 30 communications as a poster. He is also co-inventor in 6 patents. Presently, he studies and develops new strategies to up-cycle biomass for the production of added-valuable chemicals and/or materials, as well as for the productions of bio-fuels. In early 2016, he become a permanent member of CERENA-Centre for Natural Resources and the Environment and belongs to the Organic Synthesis and Raw Materials Processing Group. He is Invited Lecturer at IST, and supervisor of MSc and PhD theses.
